Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University (MAKÜ) held its 2025-2026 Academic Year Graduation Ceremony with great enthusiasm, attended by thousands of students, their families, and academics.

The graduation program began with MAKÜ Rector Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Dalgar laying a wreath at the Atatürk Monument in Cumhuriyet Square. The celebrations then continued at the MAKÜ İstiklal Campus Stadium.

Attending the ceremony were Burdur Governor Tülay Baydar Bilgihan, Rector Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Dalgar, protocol members, academic and administrative staff, as well as students and their families. In the program that started with a parade, approximately 7 thousand students graduating from the university's 14 faculties, 4 colleges, 13 vocational schools, and conservatory experienced the joy of receiving their diplomas.

The ceremony, which began with a moment of silence and the National Anthem, featured the MAKÜ Folk Dance Team, which has six championships in Turkey and one in Europe. On behalf of the student representatives, Dentistry Faculty student Emirhan Kanlıada, Burdur Food Agriculture and Livestock Vocational School student Busenur Malpınar, and Turkmen international student Züleyha Umıtjanova gave speeches. A plaque ceremony for the traditional graduation registry was also held.

Advice from Rector Dalgar to graduates

Speaking at the ceremony, Rector Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Dalgar called on graduates to look to the future with hope. Emphasizing that university years are not just a process of acquiring academic knowledge, Rector Dalgar stated that students also gain skills in problem-solving, teamwork, taking responsibility, and adapting to change.

Pointing out that the changing world requires new skills, Rector Dalgar highlighted the importance of areas such as artificial intelligence, digital transformation, sustainability, and data literacy. He noted that MAKÜ's practical education approach, 6+2 education model, internships, and project-focused activities prepare students for the future.

Rector Dalgar conveyed the message to graduates to “be good people, do beautiful things, and never give up on the right stance,” emphasizing that ethics, conscience, and contributing to society are as important as success.

Award for successful students

In the program, awards were presented to students who ranked in their departments by Burdur Governor Tülay Baydar Bilgihan and Rector Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Dalgar. Later, Dr. Faculty Member Hakan Acar administered the graduation oath.

Graduates shared the joy of graduation by throwing their caps into the air with their families.

Graduation turned into a festival

At the finale of the ceremony, DJ Doğukan Alsay took the stage and turned the graduation enthusiasm into entertainment with his performance. While students enjoyed the graduation night accompanied by music, another academic year at MAKÜ ended with pride and excitement-filled moments.
